We are glad to share wonderful news! Our new D-CHAIR chair collection has received awards at two international design competitions — the Red Dot Award and the iF DESIGN AWARD — and brought us the title of Winner 2024. For NARBUTAS this is already the second iF award and the fourth Red Dot Award.
“The iF DESIGN AWARD and Red Dot Award are among the most prestigious and significant awards in the world of design. They set new standards of development and competitiveness. Being noticed, let alone receiving these awards, is a great achievement,” noted the head of product development at Narbutas International, Dovydas Balaišis.
International recognition. Twice!
The Red Dot and iF design competitions are among the largest world events in this industry. Every year, international juries evaluate tens of thousands of products whose creators strive to win awards and gain worldwide recognition. Winning products are chosen on the basis of aesthetics, functionality, uniqueness and sustainability, as well as the degree of innovativeness and social significance created by the participating designs.
The D-CHAIR chair collection was nominated in the “Office Design and Equipment” category at the Red Dot competition. In 2024 this collection won in the “Winner 2024” category and was separately noted by the jury for the fact that “it has nothing superfluous, every detail performs its function”. In addition, the D-CHAIR collection also received the DESIGN AWARD 2024 in the “Office/Stationary” category at the iF competition.

The minimalist design creates a feeling of lightness.
The D-CHAIR chair collection is another ambitious project created in cooperation with our long-standing partners, the Italian design studio Baldanzi & Novelli designers. It includes two types of chairs: high-back executive chairs and work chairs with a lower backrest, which are also perfect for conference halls. We strove to create a truly iconic chair that would match the NARBUTAS design philosophy “Nothing superfluous” — from the headrest to the castors. It is much more than just a chair — it is a true model of comfort and functionality, combining elegance with impeccable ergonomics.
D-CHAIR attracts attention with its refined, flowing lines reminiscent of the contours of the body of the person sitting in it. Many various but interconnected elements merge into a single, cohesive construction, creating an innovative design that provides maximum comfort when sitting. The minimalist aesthetic is emphasised even more by the built-in mechanism, which fits organically into the overall silhouette of the chair. You will not notice any protruding levers for adjusting the main functions.

The design of the D-CHAIR chair stands out thanks to its innovativeness.
The win at the iF DESIGN AWARD and Red Dot Award was the culmination of the colossal efforts invested in creating D-CHAIR. According to Adriano Baldanzi, one of the designers of the Italian design studio, he was pleased with the result achieved: “Of course, awards matter, but the international recognition of such an exceptional creation as D-CHAIR is extremely valuable, since it symbolises the triumph of design and innovation.”
The synchronous mechanism of D-CHAIR sets this chair apart from competitors’ products. The designers paid the closest attention to this element. “This chair is the embodiment of the synthesis of many years of work and innovation, since its design is not only elegant but also functional — the seat and backrest, connected by transparent mesh, perfectly adapt to every movement, providing an unsurpassed level of comfort. D-CHAIR is a design masterpiece! It is a perfect balance of aesthetics and comfort — nothing to add, nothing to take away,” A. Baldanzi shared his thoughts.
An emphasis on design from the very beginning.
NARBUTAS has collaborated with designers since its founding in 1991. In 1997 we began working with authors from other countries. At present, NARBUTAS creates furniture in cooperation with well-known designers from Italy, Denmark, the USA, Spain, Germany and Lithuania.
Since 2019, our company has participated in international design competitions. This year, two of our collections — the NOVA Wood meeting tables and the TWIST&SIT soft furniture — received the Red Dot Award. In 2023, three of our furniture systems — the ZEDO desks, the SURF office chair collection and the multifunctional Nova Wood Multipurpose tables — received as many as three German Design Awards. In the same year, the Nova Wood Multipurpose collection received the iF Design Award. In addition, the ARQUS executive desk received the German Design Award 2023, and the PARTHOS meeting tables won in the “Public Vote Winner” category at the Archello Awards 2023 ceremony.
