Inspired by the Tuscan hills
The NORTH CAPE chairs were created for Narbutas by the Italian studio Baldanzi & Novelli designers. It was our first joint project, which later grew into a long-term partnership. The goal of the project was to create a chair with a unique individuality that would combine and reveal the Italian and Lithuanian styles together.
The first design sketches were created in winter in the Tuscany region of Italy, when the hilly landscape had been whitened by cold weather. Winter is the season in which two different lands, far removed from each other, become alike. The NORTH CAPE chair sketches also revealed a shared feature of the two cultures — simplicity.
The beauty of the design lies in its simplicity
According to designer Adriano Baldanzi, the simple forms of the NORTH CAPE chairs recall the Tuscan hills sleeping peacefully in winter, while the design solution is rational, like the people of the northern lands. The NORTH CAPE design is a set of simple yet strict lines with gentle curves. The rectangular shape of the polyurethane armrests harmonises with the backrest. The unique, laconic curve of the backrest, flowing smoothly down to the seat line, creates the chair’s delicate silhouette, which has become its very identity.
Create different looks
Depending on the chosen model, materials and colours, the executive workplace can be stylish and imposing, or minimalist — fitting easily into varied office scenarios and ensuring cohesion with task chairs or visitor chairs. To realise the desired style of the executive workplace, there is a choice of two models: one pleases the eye with a laconic, simple yet elegant design; the other with an unmistakably more imposing silhouette, a much softer backrest and seat, and a unique horizontal upholstery pattern. So that the chairs can adapt to different office styles, the one-piece polyurethane monoblock with backrest and seat can be combined with two types of armrests, both created exclusively for the NORTH CAPE chair family. The rectangular shape of the polyurethane armrests brings cosiness and visual grace, while choosing the plastic armrests defines a more open, minimalist look. There is also a choice of two base types — polished aluminium or plastic.
Indisputable solidity
In developing the latest model of the NORTH CAPE chair family, special attention was paid to the chair’s softness in order to achieve particularly comfortable seating. The chair’s exclusive design is emphasised by high-quality stitching with horizontal seams that form an elegant pattern for the executive chair, especially underscoring the imposing NORTH CAPE image. The fact that the chair repeats NORTH CAPE’s characteristic curves of the backrest and seat opens up possibilities for perfect combinations with the other chairs in the collection, thus maintaining the same style throughout the office.
Seating comfort guaranteed
Functional NORTH CAPE work chairs are easy to adapt not only in work areas but also in boardrooms where long, tiring meetings take place. Using the tilt mechanism, you can individually adjust the backrest resistance and lock it in four positions convenient for work, while the rocking function helps you avoid sitting frozen in one position. The chair base is on castors, so you can move around the room easily.

Centre-tilt mechanism
The backrest and seat are connected: when reclining, the whole chair tilts. This mechanism lets you lean back without lifting your feet off the ground, which avoids straining the back of the lower leg. The tilt mechanism returns automatically to the initial position, with 4 locking options.
Tension adjustment
This function lets you regulate how easily the chair reclines, depending on the sitter’s weight and reclining force.
Even more comfort
We all perceive comfort differently. By additionally ordering the NORTH CAPE seat cushion, you give the chair even greater softness. The cushion can also become a bright accent that adds exclusivity. It is easy to remove for washing or, if necessary, replacement.
