We are extremely glad to announce that NARBUTAS had a brilliant success at the ceremony for the prestigious German Design Award 2023, which took place in Germany. All the products presented by the company for this competition were noticed and received awards.
ZEDO, SURF and NOVA Wood Multipurpose among the winners
This year we presented to the jury the ZEDO desk system, developed in cooperation with the Italian designer Paolo Pampanoni; the SURF collection of work chairs, whose backrest and lumbar support were created by the German designer Justus Kolberg; and the multifunctional NOVA Wood Multipurpose desk system. All three collections were nominated in the “Excellent Product Design Office Furniture” category.
Two collections — ZEDO and SURF — were honoured with the Special Mention’23 award, while the NOVA Wood Multipurpose system received the Winner’23 award. We are glad that our company was recognised with two special awards and one winner’s award.
Full alignment with modern office trends
All the NARBUTAS products presented for this competition are very modern. They are mobile and multifunctional, reflect the latest trends in office interiors and meet a wide range of individual and team needs that change “here and now”.
The multifunctional NOVA Wood Multipurpose tables, which received the Winner’23 award, are equipped with a power unit, storage systems and castors that provide mobility, which makes them perfect for work and informal meetings.
The ZEDO system for comfortable work and communication
The ZEDO desk system has a carefully considered, playful design and comes with additional desk extensions. All this makes it possible to meet the growing needs of modern office employees, for example changing body position from sitting to standing or holding short meetings with one or several colleagues in the same place.
The importance of collaboration was emphasised by the ZEDO designer himself. “I believe that the German Design Award 2023, like the ZEDO desk system itself, is the result of partnership and connection between different cultures and approaches to office furniture design. I am very happy and grateful that the product I created was nominated and received such a prestigious award,” said the ZEDO designer Paolo Pampanoni, sharing his opinion about the Special Mention’23 award received.
The ergonomic, aesthetic SURF work chair
NARBUTAS offers a wide range of office chairs, so we are very glad that one of the winners was the SURF work chair. This chair with lumbar support and a height adjustment function provides an ergonomic and aesthetic workplace. In addition, we offer a wide colour palette of the Runner Mesh covering the backrest.
“The innovative simplicity of the SURF chair makes it extremely comfortable. The backrest design allows the lumbar support to be bent to the desired level, so it feels like an elastic cushion. In appearance, the SURF chair is very sporty and dynamic. These qualities can be used to create an active, positive and creative environment,” said designer Justus Kolberg.
Numerous requirements for the nominees
The German Design Award is presented by the German Design Council — one of the world’s leading centres in the field of design. The jury of the German Design Award 2023 evaluates products by a wide range of criteria, such as ergonomics, functionality, practical benefit, overall concept, design, innovativeness, durability, the brand equity of the product itself, market maturity, sustainability, eco-friendliness, aesthetics, the safety and accessibility of the product, symbolic and emotional content, production technology and others.
The mission of the German Design Award is to discover, present and honour unique trends in the field of design. Every year this award is presented to a product or communication concept that has contributed to a breakthrough in international design.
We are extremely glad about our wins in the German Design Award competition, since it is one of the most prestigious and solid design awards in the world! In the past it was won by our modular soft-seating system SOFT ROCK. Let us celebrate this achievement together! Perhaps next year we will take gold — the Gold award?..
