Inspired by the Tuscan hills
NORTH CAPE chairs were created for Narbutas by the Italian studio Baldanzi & Novelli designers. This was our first joint project, which later grew into a long-term partnership. The aim of the project was to create a chair with a unique personality that would combine and reveal the Italian and Lithuanian styles together.
The first design sketches were created in winter in the Tuscany region (Italy), when the hilly landscape was bleached by the cold weather. Winter is the period in which two different lands, distant from each other, become similar. The NORTH CAPE chair sketches also revealed a common feature of the two cultures — simplicity.
The beauty of the design lies in its simplicity
According to designer Adriano Baldanzi, the simple shapes of NORTH CAPE chairs are reminiscent of the calmly sleeping Tuscan hills in winter, while the design solution is rational, like the people of the northern lands. The NORTH CAPE design is a set of simple yet strict lines with gentle curves. The rectangular shape of the polyurethane armrests harmonises with the backrest. The unique, laconic curve of the backrest, gently descending to the seat line, creates the chair’s delicate silhouette, which has already become the personality of this chair.

A universal tool for creating an image
Thanks to its laconic design, the NORTH CAPE chair family fits perfectly into a wide range of desk systems as well as meeting tables. Depending on the variation, materials and chosen colour, the work chair will become expressive and eye-catching or, on the contrary, minimalist, blending organically into an already established office environment. So that the chairs can be adapted to various styles of office space, the one-piece polyurethane monoblock with backrest and seat can be combined with two types of armrests, both created exclusively for the NORTH CAPE chair family. The rectangular shape of the polyurethane armrests adds cosiness and visual grace, while the choice of plastic armrests will give the chair a more open, minimalist look. You can also choose between two types of chair base — polished aluminium or plastic.
One chair for different office spaces
Functional NORTH CAPE work chairs are easy to adapt not only in work zones but also in meeting rooms, where long and tiring meetings are held. Using the tilt mechanism in the work chair, you can individually adjust the firmness of the backrest curve and lock it in four positions convenient for work, while the rocking function will help you avoid staying in one position for too long. The chair base is on castors, so you can easily move around the room.
Adjustment functions:
Tilt mechanism with a central axis. The backrest and seat are connected. Leaning back, the whole chair tilts. This mechanism allows you to lean back without lifting your feet off the ground, which does not strain the back of the shins. A tilt mechanism with automatic return to the initial position, 4 locking options.
Tension adjustment. This function lets you adjust how easily the chair reclines, depending on the weight and the reclining force applied.

Even more comfort
We all perceive comfort differently. By additionally ordering the NORTH CAPE seat cushion, you will give the chair even greater softness. Moreover, the cushion can become a bright accent that lends the chair exclusivity. The cushion is easy to remove for washing or, if necessary, replacement with a new one.
A style that is easy to adapt
The NORTH CAPE chair family consists of stylish, solid and functional work chairs, executive chairs, and visitor and conference chairs. It is an excellent choice that lets you unite the executive zone, the workspace and meeting rooms, as well as reception and guest areas, in one refined style. Choose a finish from a wide range of fabrics, artificial and natural leather with an extensive colour spectrum. NORTH CAPE chairs can easily be adapted not only to different interiors but also to employees’ needs.
